The gold rush started right here in the foothills of the mighty Sierra Nevada. It was 1848 when gold was discovered right here in Auburn and all history changed after that.   This was the first of the gold discoveries  in Placer County.  The area quickly grew with a massive influx of miners, suppliers and everything in between.  Auburn became the Placer County Seat in 1851. The settlers were coming by mule, horseback, then wagons and stagecoaches.  The town and surrounding area was growing by leaps and bounds.

Today, The City of Auburn has about 13,000 full time residents living within the city limits. There’s another 45,000 people in the surrounding areas.  Auburn is a city with all of the modern amenities and conveniences that other cities have.  The city owns and operates its own Auburn Municipal Airport, is pro business and pro growth and encourages industrial growth at the Airport Industrial Park.
