ELUVEITIE on CAPITAL CHAOS 2008 @ The Boardwalk~Orangevale, CA 5/7/2008 on the "Paganfest 2008 Tour" also on the bill were AT DAWN, TURISAS, TYR & ENSIFERUM Eluveitie (pronounced el-way-tea) is a folk metal band from Switzerland. Their sound can be described as Celtic folk metal with melodic death metal influences. The band formed in 2002 and their first EP, Vên came out in 2003. The band has since then released a full length album, Spirit. In November 2007, Eluveitie was signed by Nuclear Blast.The first product of the collaboration, Slania, was released in February 2008. One of Eluveitie's two largest draws is their liberal, virtuosic use of traditional instruments amidst guitars and Chrigel's wide ranging, emotional screams. The other is their lyrics; instead of any of the languages currently spoken in their home country, the screams, clean vocals, and occasional spoken word parts are often in the ancient, dead language Gaulish. Eluveitie is Etruscan for "the Helvetian", referring to an inscription dating to the earliest record of the pagan Helvetii tribe from what is now Switzerland. www.myspace.com The band was founded in the winter of 2002 by Christian "Chrigel" Glanzmann as a studio project. In October of the following year saw the publication of the MCD Vên (Helvetian Gaulish for "wild joy"). Formed in 1999, they are named after the street where The Simpsons claim residence. The band's fifth studio album Almost Home was released on September 29th via Metal Blade Records. Hailing from Jacksonville, FL Evergreen Terrace has been blazing their own path through the melodic hardcore style for over a decade now. Anchored by guitar player/vocalist Craig Chaneys clean singing and catchy hooks, punctuated by lead singer Andrew Carey's vicious screamed vocals, the five-piece band never depended on anyone but themselves to push their band forward. Rounding out the lineup alongside Andrew and Craig is Josh James (guitar/vocals) and Kyle Mims (drums) as permanent members. With their blistering combination of melodic hardcore, metal and punk-rock strains, Evergreen Terrace has toured the world with bands like As I Lay Dying, Rise Against, August Burns Red, Hatebreed, Thursday, Circa Survive, Everytime I Die, Strung Out, Agnostic Front and many more.
