Rocklin is a city of about 53,000 residents, incorporated in 1893. The city was named recently as one of the top ten places in the country to raise a family by ‘Family Circle Magazine’. It encompasses about 20 square miles and is located in South Placer County about 25 miles from Downtown Sacramento.
Rocklin has a long and proud history dating back close to 150 years. Incorporated in 1893, Rocklin evolved from what was known as the Spring Valley Ranch and surrounding areas. The ranch took in over 30,000 acres and housed hundreds of employees and families. Rocklin became famous in the early 1900s with the mining of granite from the area and the operation of the some 22 granite quarries in Rocklin. Most of the granite in many buildings in San Francisco and in Sacramento came from the Rocklin quarries. Today Rocklin granite is still shipped out all over the world for kitchen counters and monument signs where ever needed.
This is a modern city with all of the modern conveniences found in any city, high rated schools, including 2 high schools, Sierra College and William Jessup University. Rocklin is a very pro business city and boasts of many different types of businesses and industries. Retail stores can vary from furniture stores to automobile sales, and everything in between. More stores and businesses are being planned for each day.
